Georgia and Alfred
Set of 2 original signed artworks.
Acrylic on canvas, framed ready to hang.
Each work is 31cm (L) x 41cm (H)
These works are part of a series which explores the idea that we’re ’better together’. We each have our own unique traits and we can all stand on our own - but as a pair, matched with someone or something different from us, we have the capacity to create something even more powerful and more beautiful.
Georgia O’Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz met in 1916. Stieglitz was 52 and already a renowned photographer, while O’Keeffe was only 28 and at the beginning of her career. Stieglitz became her mentor. As their relationship became increasingly strained, O’Keeffe moved alone to New Mexico to focus on her creativity. It was here O’Keeffe flourished in her art. Though Stieglitz was devastated by the move, the couple adapted by writing letters to each other (remarkably over 25,000) and remained together in love, until Stieglitz’s death in 1946.
