Let the Fun Begin
Power of colour
It’s no secret. Colour is a natural mood booster, a ‘creative’ stimulant (the best kind). Think dopamine dressing. Colour has a remarkable influence on our emotions and well-being. Colourful environments have been found to enhance productivity and spark innovation. That’s why I choose to surround myself with colour. So why not embrace the Power of colour, and wear that colourful kimono, canary yellow bikini, or brilliant blue clutch. Celebrate art and living with Jessica Art and Design.
Live artfully. Live colourfully.
About Jessica
Jessica Sutherland is a Sydney based artist and creative. Her abstract paintings are an expression of her ‘joie de vivre’, they are brimming with vibrant colour pairings and painterly brushstrokes. Her canvas’ speak volumes of the world in which she lives, a busy family life on the lower north shore of Sydney with her husband, three kids and cocker spaniel, Buddy.
Jessica is a fan of textiles and this is evident in the many repeating patterns and geometric shapes found in her abstract compositions. Look closer and you’ll also find fragments of saris and other delights, collected from her travels. Imperfectly perfect is a recurring theme in her work as she mixes old with new, and takes ordinary everyday objects and elevates them to the arty and extraordinary. Take for example, the Art Football. Footy has never been so much fun.
Jessica began her career as a lawyer. At a law event in 2023, while seated next to Ken Done, she made a commitment to paint with ‘bigger brushes on bigger canvases’. Jessica is inspired by the likes of Matisse, Bonnard, Stephen Ormandy, Kindah Khalidy and Ken Done.
Jessica loves the ritual of painting and relishes the opportunity to brighten her collectors’ days through bringing fun and colourful pieces into the home and creating one of kind art pieces for wear and play.
Jessica works full time out of her studio in Northbridge.
“Creativity is a superpower, use it for good.”
“I’m often asked ‘what is your favourite colour?’ I enjoy working with all colours even the dull ones. I get a buzz out of mixing colours, pairing bright colours like neon pink with muted tones like yellow ochre. I love creating harmony on a canvas by bringing two disparate colours together. When I look at a canvas and the colours sing - that’s when I know I’ve created something beautiful” - Jessica
