It all begins with an idea.

This series of miniworks is characterised by vibrant colour-pairings and bold painterly brushstrokes. The highly saturated colours, striped borders, dynamic shapes, mix of patterns and small embellishments evoke a sense of joy and energy. I wanted to convey here my love of folk art in its various forms - art, music, dance, costume. I have always been drawn to folk art and folk culture - and when travelling overseas it is something I naturally seek out. Artists who create folk art are often self taught, they are not concerned with academic traditions or concepts of ‘fine art’. I love that. It is art which is intentional, human and above all, for the soul.
